The first person we met at the district administration was Batyr Owlyagulyyev, head of the Halaç District Committee of the Agrarian Party of Turkmenistan. After greetings, we informed him that we wanted to write an article about an experienced tenant who works diligently on the land.
— Excellent. There are few such people among our active members. One of them is Gurbanmurat Jumayev, the head of the 9th tenant group of the Lebap Farmers’ Union. Go with him, I’ll direct you to his workplace, — said Batyr Owlyagulyyev.
We quickly met Gurbanmurat in a wheat field. His care for agriculture, attention to the land, and efforts to increase yields were clear. Since 1998, he has rented 5 hectares, grows cotton, involves his family in the work, waters and treats the crops. His results speak for themselves: yields increase year by year, and contractual obligations are fully met.
In 2006, the head of the farmers’ union, Akmyrat Bekpoladov, appointed him as the head of the 9th tenant group:
— Gurbanmurat, your diligence and energy will help our group achieve better results, — he said.
Since then, Gurbanmurat, along with 16 tenants, has been improving work methods, consulting experienced tenants, and exceeding planned yields. For example, wheat yields reached 30 centners per hectare instead of the planned 23, and cotton yields reached 40 centners per hectare instead of 28.
Gurbanmurat Jumayev was awarded the jubilee badge “30 Years of Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan” in honor of the International Day of Neutrality, further motivating him to work with dedication and love for his homeland.
