New government formed in Britain: New Cabinet of Ministers announced

Important changes have taken place in the political sphere of Great Britain. A new government has been formed under the leadership of the new Prime Minister, Andy Burnham. This was officially announced by the press service of the Prime Minister's office. In the new Cabinet of Ministers, several prominent politicians have been appointed to important positions, while some members have retained their previous posts.

Leaders appointed to key government positions In the new ministerial composition, the main representatives responsible for the country's economy, foreign policy, and security were appointed in the following order:

• John Healey — appointed as Chancellor of the Exchequer / Minister of Finance (he served as Defense Minister from 2024 until June of this year).
• Ed Miliband — appointed as Foreign Secretary (he served as the leader of the Labour Party from 2010–2015).
• Shabana Mahmood — remained in the post of Home Secretary, which she has held since 2025.
• Yvette Cooper — the former Foreign Secretary was appointed as the new Health Secretary.
• Wes Streeting — previously serving as Health Secretary, has now been moved to the position of Defense Secretary.
• Louise Haigh — who became Transport Minister in 2024, received the positions of First Secretary of State, Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, and Minister for the Cabinet Office.

Other appointments in the Cabinet of Ministers Ministers responsible for other areas within the government were also approved:

• Pat McFadden — retained the post of Secretary of State for Work and Pensions.
• Lisa Nandy — remained in the post of Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport.
• Bridget Phillipson — retained the post of Minister for Women and Equalities.
• Heidi Alexander — remains in the post of Transport Minister.
• Lucy Powell — became Education Secretary.
• Alex Norris — appointed as Lord Chancellor and Justice Secretary.
• Angela Eagle — assumed the post of Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
• Miatta Fahnbulleh — became Minister for Energy Security and Net Zero.
• Angela Rayner — appointed as Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government.
• Jonathan Reynolds — received the post of Secretary of State for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade.
• Emma Reynolds — assumed the post of Chief Secretary to the Treasury.

Along with the formation of the new government, some members of the previous cabinet lost their positions. Among them are prominent politicians such as Rachel Reeves, David Lammy, Darren Jones, Steve Reed, Peter Kyle, Richard Hermer, Liz Kendall, Jo Stevens, and Hilary Benn.
