Number of Travelers from Turkmenistan to Azerbaijan is Increasing

In January-February 2026, more than 4,000 residents of Turkmenistan traveled to Azerbaijan. This was reported by "Report" with reference to the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan.

During the reporting period, 4.3 thousand Turkmen travelers visited Azerbaijan for tourism purposes. This accounts for 1.3 percent of the foreign tourists who visited the country during the corresponding period. Thus, Turkmenistan ranked 15th in terms of the number of citizens traveling to Azerbaijan.

The top three countries from which the most tourists come to Azerbaijan are as follows:

• Russia: 23,2%
• Turkey: 21,1%
• Iran: 9%

In total, Azerbaijan welcomed 337.3 thousand foreign guests in January-February 2026. Although this number decreased by 0.4 percent compared to the same period last year, an increase is recorded in the number of people traveling from the Central Asian region, particularly from Turkmenistan.
