On September 1, 2026, the regular meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) member states will be held in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan. A high-level meeting in the "SCO+" format is also scheduled for the same day.

The meetings are expected to be chaired by the President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov. The summit will be attended by heads of state and government of the SCO member countries, as well as representatives of invited states and international organizations.

High-level representatives expected to participate within the framework of the summit include Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Kazakhstani President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Pakistani Prime Minister Sharif, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Tajikistani President Emomali Rahmon, and Uzbekistani President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Additionally, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, Prime Minister of Togo's Council of Ministers Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Lao President Thongloun Sisoulith, Vietnamese Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan, and Egyptian Deputy Prime Minister Hussein Issa are expected to attend the meeting.

Among international organizations, SCO Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbayev, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, and CIS Secretary-General Sergey Lebedev are also expected to participate in the summit.

The meetings will discuss important issues of the international and regional agenda alongside future development vectors of the SCO. The opportunities for expanding cooperation in political, trade and economic, transport and logistics, digital technology, environmental, and cultural and humanitarian fields will also be considered.

Following the results of the summit, the Bishkek Declaration dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the SCO is expected to be adopted, along with the signing of several documents and decisions aimed at improving the activities of the Organization and strengthening multilateral cooperation.

At the high-level meeting in the "SCO+" format, participants will exchange views on issues related to strengthening the central role of the UN and international law in international relations, supporting sustainable development, and expanding the scope of mutually beneficial cooperation.

The summit in Bishkek will be one of the key concluding events of Kyrgyzstan's chairmanship in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation in 2025–2026. Kyrgyzstan's chairmanship is being carried out under the motto "25 Years of SCO: Together Toward Sustainable Peace, Development, and Prosperity."
