A delegation from the State Migration Service of Turkmenistan took part in the 33rd meeting of the Public Key Directory (PKD) Board and a specialized training and practical seminar held in Victoria, the capital of Seychelles. The events took place from October 20 to 22, 2026.
According to the official website of the State Migration Service of Turkmenistan, discussions focused particularly on modernizing the technical infrastructure of border control authorities and introducing advanced digital solutions.
Participants discussed practical methods for using reference lists to verify the authenticity of travel documents. They also exchanged views on introducing new digital formats, including electronic pilot certificates and digital information about travellers.
Separate sessions addressed ways to develop regional capabilities and implement a pilot project aimed at establishing cooperation with the private sector.
Following several days of discussions, an updated strategic plan was approved to further deepen multilateral cooperation among states.
The Public Key Directory Board oversees the global system of public keys used by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). This system plays an important role in verifying the authenticity and reliability of travel documents.
Turkmenistan’s participation in the events provided an opportunity to exchange expertise on advancing digital technologies in migration and border control systems, as well as strengthening international cooperation.
