An autonomous solar-powered charging station for electric vehicles has been put into operation in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan. According to the developers, this facility is the first of its kind in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

As reported by Kazakhstan's "Report" agency, the country's Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources provided information on this matter.

The main feature of the station, located on the grounds of the "Alatau" sports complex, is its off-grid operation principle, meaning it functions independently of the city's power grid. The project was developed by the Kazakhstan company BOLASHAQ POWER.

The complex includes a 100 kW solar energy system and energy storage devices with a total capacity of 645 kWh. The facility also complies with the requirements of Kazakhstan's "Green Taxonomy."

During the presentation of the project, opportunities for deploying such autonomous charging station systems along the country's major highways, in cities, at industrial enterprises, and other infrastructure facilities were discussed.

According to Kazakhstan's Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the country plans to further expand the use of such solutions for electric vehicles in the regions.

Currently, 642 electric vehicle charging stations operate in Kazakhstan. In the near future, it is planned to increase their number by nearly twofold.

The solar-powered autonomous charging station demonstrates the introduction of innovative solutions in Central Asia regarding the development of electric vehicle infrastructure, the use of renewable energy sources, and the reduction of environmental impact.
