A significant meeting was held at the State Library of the State Cultural Center of Turkmenistan within the framework of the program to strengthen international cultural cooperation. In accordance with our national traditions, the managers and staff of the library welcomed the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Turkmenistan, Ji Shumin, and the First Secretary of the embassy, He Ziwei, who arrived in our country, with bread and salt.
The dear guests toured the building in order to get acquainted with the work and rich treasure of the library.
During the visit, the diplomatic representatives of the PRC toured several specialized departments of the library:
- "Literature in Foreign Languages" department: Here, they viewed an exhibition of publications presented by the People's Republic of China in previous years and books published in world languages.
- "Rare Editions" department: In this department, the diplomats closely got acquainted with ancient manuscripts, rare printed products, and historical-cultural values that are preserved with special care.
After the tour, Chinese Ambassador Ji Shumin and the head of the State Library, L. Nurmuhammedova, held a bilateral meeting. During the conversation, the parties discussed issues of developing long-term cooperation in the library system, exchanging experience, and regularly enriching the library's fund with new literature in the Chinese language.
At the end of the meeting, the parties presented commemorative gifts to each other:
- From the Chinese side: Ambassador Ji Shumin presented a total of 200 books of 49 titles published in 3 languages, covering various fields, to the State Library.
- From the Turkmen side: The head of the State Library, L. Nurmuhammedova, handed over the valuable book of our esteemed President Serdar Berdimuhamedov titled "Youth — the Support of the Motherland," published in Russian, to the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China.
This event will contribute to further deepening the humanitarian and cultural relations between the two friendly countries.
