In the second half of 2025, 16.1% of the planet’s working-age population used artificial intelligence (AI). This indicates a significant potential for the future spread of AI technologies. The usage rate varies noticeably from country to country. In northern countries, the average is 24.7%, while in southern countries it is only 14.1%. Among neighboring countries, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Singapore stand out.
This infographic is based on data from Microsoft’s report, Global AI Adoption in 2025, and shows the level of AI adoption by country. In the study, Microsoft assessed AI usage in 147 countries worldwide. With 64% of the population using generative AI tools, the UAE not only ranks first globally but also is among the countries with the fastest adoption growth. Even before ChatGPT was introduced, AI technologies were actively used in UAE’s government services. Early regulatory and governance frameworks created under the 2017 national AI development strategy, covering nine key sectors of the economy, helped this progress.
Singapore ranks second, with 60.9% of its population using AI. Like the UAE, Singapore invested in infrastructure, research, and development, committing early to AI.
In Europe, Norway leads, with an adoption rate of 46.4%, ranking third globally. It is followed by technologically advanced Ireland (44.6%) and France (44%). In the United States, AI usage is 28.3%, placing it 24th in the global ranking. At the bottom is Cambodia, with only 5.1% of its population using AI. Growth is gradual, and insufficient investment and limited infrastructure remain the main obstacles to wider AI adoption.
