In Cairo, the capital of Egypt, the first driverless monorail system on the African continent has been launched. This project is set to set a new world record due to its scale and technological capabilities.
Currently, the first phase of the project, the "East Nile" line, operates over a distance of 56.5 kilometers between the International Stadium in Nasr City and the country's new capital. Subsequently, once the construction of the "West Nile" line is completed, the system will provide seamless connectivity between Cairo and Giza.
Once construction is fully completed, the total length of the monorail system will exceed 100 kilometers. This figure will surpass the current record-holder, the 98.5-kilometer monorail in Chongqing, China, making it the longest monorail system in the world.
