Transit Cargo Turnover at Turkmenbashi International Seaport Increased by 10%
According to the international assessment agency "Argus," in the first quarter of 2026 (January–March), transit cargo transportation through the Turkmenbashi International Seaport increased by 10 percent compared to the same period last year.
According to expert analysis, the following conditions directly influenced the increase in this indicator:
- An increase in the volume of Turkmen oil arriving at the Turkmenbashi Complex of Oil Refineries (TCOR).
- As a result of the increased export of liquid cargo through the Ekrem port point and urea from the city of Garabogaz, total transit passages showed an annual growth of 23 percent.
- In March, the shipment of sulfur from Iran to the Black Sea ports of Azerbaijan and Georgia (Poti and Batumi) intensified. According to market participants, the 35 percent increase in the price of sulfur in the Black Sea region provided an additional economic incentive for the transit of this product through the territory of Turkmenistan.
The Turkmenbashi International Seaport, one of the largest logistics centers in the Caspian Sea, currently houses several specialized terminals that meet international standards.
