In September 2026, Moscow hosted a number of international educational and creative events aimed at supporting Russian language teachers and talented young people. School teachers and students from higher education institutions in Turkmenistan also took part in these events.

On September 12, Moscow hosted the award ceremony for the winners of the 26th International Pushkin Competition, organized by Rossiyskaya Gazeta together with the Moscow City Government. This year, nearly 400 entries from 39 countries were submitted to the competition. Representatives of Turkmenistan, Ozoda Alaminova and Jennet Sultanova, were also included among the world’s 50 best teachers announced on Russian Language Day.

During their visit to Moscow, Turkmen teachers took part in professional training sessions held at the Pushkin State Russian Language Institute, where they exchanged experience on new methods of teaching Russian and approaches to increasing students’ interest in language learning. They also participated in a round table dedicated to the status of the Russian language in society, excursions to historical sites associated with Pushkin, and theatre events.

At the same time, the international “Pushkin Camp” language camp concluded its programme at the Pushkin Institute. Following a selection round involving 786 candidates from 28 countries, only 20 students advanced to the final stage. Among them were a student of Magtymguly Turkmen State University and a Turkmen student studying at Universiti Teknologi Petronas in Malaysia.

Over the course of two weeks, the young participants took part in intercultural dialogue, learned about the traditions and customs of different peoples, and visited the Tretyakov Gallery, the Museum of Cosmonautics and the Tsaritsyno Palace and Park Ensemble. During the final presentations, the students presented their creative projects and demonstrated that the Russian language serves as a unique bridge between different cultures.

International humanitarian cooperation is also continuing online. On September 7, a seven-week professional development programme for Russian language teachers from nine CIS countries began. Participants are studying digital educational technologies, methods of working in multicultural classrooms, as well as opportunities for using artificial intelligence in education.

Following the programme, the 10 best participants are expected to take part in an in-person professional training programme in Moscow in February 2027.

In addition, applications for an international competition dedicated to the professional excellence of Russian language teachers from foreign countries are being accepted until September 15, 2026. The finalists will meet at the Pushkin Institute in Moscow from November 15 to 21, take part in in-person assessments and exchange experience with colleagues from different countries.
