The latest phase of filming for the international feature film "Molla Nasreddin – Friend of Difficult Days," produced under the auspices of TURKSOY, has been successfully completed in Turkmenistan. This large-scale project is a collaborative creative effort by filmmakers from Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan.
The unique locations of Gawers village and Bokurdak settlement in the Ahal region were chosen to film the movie's most striking moments. The distinctive natural features of these areas provided excellent conditions to capture the spirit of Molla Nasreddin's adventures. In particular, the caravan scenes crossing the vast expanses of the Karakum Desert became one of the highlights of the film.
The filming was conducted with the close assistance of the "Turkmenfilm" Association named after Oguzhan and was concluded through the unified efforts of an international team of specialists.
As Director Vagif Mustafayev noted, Molla Nasreddin is not only a symbol of humor and wit but also of historical wisdom and keen sensitivity to social issues. This film, as an expression of the shared values and ancient wisdom of Turkic peoples in modern cinematography, further strengthens the cultural bridge between brotherly nations.
The new project about Molla Nasreddin was approved in October 2023 during the Turkic World Culture Forum held in Shusha. Currently, the filming process is complete, and the project is moving into the post-production phase. The film, produced by "Nasreddin Production MMC," is expected to be fully ready by this summer and will be showcased at international festivals.
