
On June 15, 2026, the regular meeting of Special Representatives and Special Envoys of the European Union and Central Asian states on Afghanistan took place in Almaty. The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Ahmet Gurbanov.
During the meeting, the participants discussed a wide range of issues related to the current situation in Afghanistan, the prospects for regional cooperation, and directions for international interaction aimed at promoting the country's sustainable development.
Within the framework of an exchange of views on the role of international organizations, the importance of the work carried out by the United Nations and its specialized agencies in providing humanitarian aid, supporting the socio-economic development of Afghanistan, strengthening state institutions, and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals was emphasized.
In his speech at the meeting, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan noted the consistent position of Turkmenistan aimed at supporting a peaceful, stable, and economically strong Afghanistan. It was also emphasized that Turkmenistan views Afghanistan as an important participant in regional integration processes and supports its active involvement in international economic cooperation.
The Turkmen side confirmed its readiness to continue effective cooperation with regional states, the European Union, and international organizations in order to ensure the sustainable development of Afghanistan, strengthen regional stability, and expand mutually beneficial cooperation.
