Turkmenistan is conducting preliminary negotiations with international companies to establish modern data processing centers (DPCs) for high-performance computing, including the cryptocurrency sector. This was announced by the Minister of Energy of Turkmenistan, Annageldi Saparow, during his speech at the international conference titled "My White City Ashgabat" held in the capital.
In his speech, the Minister of Energy specifically emphasized that our country is actively integrating into global technological advancements. As noted, the Law of Turkmenistan "On Virtual Assets," which entered into force on January 1, 2026, created a reliable legal framework for legalizing cryptocurrency mining and the operations of crypto exchanges in the country. Currently, with the aim of implementing plans in this direction, the conditions for building high-tech centers are being discussed with the world's leading international companies.
According to the Minister, the implementation of such projects in the future will open up broad opportunities to utilize the surplus part of the electricity produced in the country more efficiently and to successfully integrate the national sustainable energy system into the digital economy. In this regard, A. Saparow invited foreign partners to implement joint projects in the capital in the fields of energy and digital technologies.
As a reminder, the international conference "My White City Ashgabat," which gathered representatives from 55 countries, was held on May 24–25. This forum, dedicated to the 145th anniversary of the founding of Ashgabat, was organized by the "Turkmen Energy Forum" (TEF) company, the Khakimlik (Municipality) of Ashgabat, the Ministries of Energy, Industry and Construction Production, Construction and Architecture, and the "Turkmenhimiýa" State Concern.
