Turkmenistan Ranks First in the Number of Foreign Students Studying in Uzbekistan
According to the latest data from the Statistics Agency of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the number of Turkmen students studying in the neighboring country is significantly higher than those from other nations. This indicator has placed Turkmenistan in first place on the list of foreign students in Uzbekistan.
Based on the results of the first quarter of 2026 (January — March), a total of 15,124 foreign citizens are studying in higher education institutions in Uzbekistan. Nearly half of them, specifically 7,174 individuals, are students from Turkmenistan.
The rankings are distributed as follows:
- Turkmenistan: 7,174 students
- India: 2,835 students
- Tajikistan: 1,170 students
- China: 641 students
- Kyrgyz Republic: 483 students
The report from the Statistics Agency shows that educational relations in the region are becoming more active. The high interest of Turkmen students in the educational institutions of the neighboring country is evidence of the steadily growing humanitarian, cultural, and educational cooperation between the two nations.
Currently, in various regions of Uzbekistan, particularly in higher education institutions in cities like Tashkent and Bukhara, Turkmen youth are advancing their knowledge in fields such as medicine, engineering, and pedagogy.
