Students from Turkmenistan achieved remarkable international success by winning 6 gold and 3 silver medals at the 33rd International Mathematics Competition “IMC-2026”, held in Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria.

The prestigious mathematics competition took place from July 27 to August 3. The Olympiad was jointly organized by University College London and the American University in Bulgaria.

The national team of Turkmenistan demonstrated a high level of preparation and won a total of 9 medals. This achievement once again confirmed the strong mathematical knowledge and talent of Turkmen students.

The national team included students from Magtymguly Turkmen State University, the International University for the Humanities and Development, Yagshygeldi Kakayev International University of Oil and Gas, the Turkmen State Institute of Economics and Management, the Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Civil Engineering, Seýitnazar Seýdi Turkmen State Pedagogical Institute, and the State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan.

The competition was conducted in English and consisted of two rounds. In each round, participants were given five highly challenging mathematical problems. The tasks covered areas such as mathematical analysis, linear and abstract algebra, functional analysis, analytical geometry, combinatorics, and number theory.

The “IMC” (International Mathematics Competition for University Students) has been held since 1994. It is recognized as one of the world’s most prestigious international mathematics competitions, bringing together talented university students from different countries.

The 2026 Olympiad gathered approximately 450 students from 47 countries around the world. Representatives from the United States, the United Kingdom, Russia, Germany, France, China, India, Singapore, Türkiye, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, and other countries participated in the competition.

The successful performance of Turkmenistan’s students at “IMC-2026” became an important event demonstrating the high intellectual potential of young people, the level of professional training, and the effectiveness of efforts aimed at developing the country’s education system.
