The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) conducted a training programme dedicated to developing regional tourism in Central Asian countries. Representatives of Turkmenistan’s “Halkara syýahat” and “Şowly syýahat” travel companies also took part in the training sessions held in September and October, according to the press service of the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan.
During the programme, JICA specialists and professors from the Department of International Relations at Wakayama University delivered practical sessions. Participants explored experience and approaches related to the use of new technologies in tourism, improving tourism services and strengthening regional cooperation.
As part of the training, Turkmen representatives also presented their country’s tourism potential and rich historical and cultural heritage at Wakayama University. Particular attention was given to promoting Turkmenistan’s tourist destinations internationally and attracting interest from foreign visitors.
The experience gained is expected to support the future development of ecotourism, health tourism and historical tourism in Turkmenistan, increase awareness of the country’s tourist attractions and improve service quality. These efforts could also create new opportunities to attract more visitors from Japan and other Central Asian countries.
The participation of Turkmen specialists in the JICA training programme is important for gaining international experience, improving professional skills and expanding cooperation between Turkmenistan’s tourism sector and foreign partners.
