
Yesterday, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) country office in Turkmenistan organized a training workshop dedicated to the impact of extreme heat on women's reproductive health.
The main objective of this event was to introduce national specialists to modern, evidence-based approaches for clinically identifying heat stress in pregnant women, and to teach ways to adapt care practices in extreme heat conditions to reduce potential health risks.
The training workshop, conducted in both in-person and online formats, was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Healthcare and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan, the National Reproductive Health Center, the Scientific-Clinical Center for Maternal and Child Health in Ashgabat, the "Ene Mähri" Center, as well as staff members of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the M. Garryev State Medical University. In addition, chief reproductologists and specialists from the healthcare directorates of Ashgabat and Arkadag cities, as well as all provinces of our country, joined the workshop.
During the meeting, participants analyzed the current climatic conditions emerging in Turkmenistan and the specific characteristics of the impact of extreme heat on women's health.
Within the framework of the training workshop, special attention was paid to the issues of organizing and adapting medical services at the primary healthcare level to prevent the negative effects of extremely high temperatures on the bodies of pregnant women.
