
At the beginning of 2026, YouTube introduced new measures on its platform. In his annual address to content creators, YouTube CEO Neal Mohan stated that it has become increasingly difficult to distinguish original content from material created using artificial intelligence algorithms. In January–February 2026, the platform began removing or restricting channels that automatically generate videos. According to a report by Kapwing, 16 channels from the “Top 100 AI-Powered Channels” list published in December 2025 have already been shut down or restricted. Some of these channels had multi-million audiences. The total number of subscribers of the removed channels exceeds 30 million, while their combined view count surpasses 2 billion.
