Within the framework of cultural and humanitarian cooperation between Turkmenistan and Russia, a joint exhibition dedicated to the monuments of the ancient state of Margush (Margiana), one of the greatest discoveries of world archaeology, will be held. The project of this international event, to be organized within the borders of the two countries, was announced by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Turkmenistan, Ivan Volynkin, in his article published in the "Neutral Turkmenistan" newspaper.
According to the diplomat, the solemn part of this exhibition, which is being prepared at the initiative of the Russian side, is planned to be held at the A.S. Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts in Russia.
The main core and core values of the exhibition will consist of historical finds discovered in the Gonur-depe settlement, which was the capital of the ancient Margush kingdom. Tens of thousands of artifacts discovered in this area dating back to 2300–1500 BC, which are currently carefully preserved in the State Museum of the State Cultural Center of Turkmenistan and the History and Local Lore Museum of Mary Velayat, will be presented to the public on such a large scale for the first time.
Among the exhibits will be highly artistic gold and silver jewelry, unique historical artifacts made of stone, bone, and bronze.
The history of archaeological research and cooperation between Russia and Turkmenistan spans more than 50 years. During this period, scientists from the two countries conducted excavations of world significance at Gonur-depe, the early farming center of Ylgynly-depe, and Old Nisa monuments.
According to scientists' assessments, the ancient Margush civilization, in terms of its historical and cultural value, stands on a par with the greatest cradles of world culture such as Mesopotamia, Egypt, China, and India.
This upcoming exhibition will be clear evidence not only of historical values but also that the scientific and cultural relations between the two countries have entered a new stage.
