The Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan, taking into account the activity of higher education institutions and teachers in international scientific publications, has determined rankings based on the results of the 2025–2026 academic year.

The rankings make it possible to assess the effectiveness of scientific activities of higher education institutions in various fields. This time, the main criteria included the number and quality of scientific works published in the Web of Science and Scopus databases, which are widely recognized by the international scientific community.

Scientific articles published in these prestigious international publications are considered high-level scientific works. Such publications not only communicate the results of scientific research to the international community, but also contribute to the development of new scientific work by researchers from different countries.

It is noted that in recent years, the activity of Turkmen scientists in international scientific publications has increased significantly. While in 2020 the number of scientific works by Turkmen scientists published in international databases such as Web of Science and Scopus amounted to 160, five years later this figure reached several thousand.

The Magtymguly Turkmen State University took the leading position in terms of the number and significance of scientific works. The Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Civil Engineering ranked second.

The growing activity of higher education institutions in the international scientific arena demonstrates the particular importance attached in Turkmenistan to the development of research activities, new technologies and innovative developments.

In accordance with the results of the ranking determined based on the results of the previous academic year, leading teachers were also awarded. Following the work carried out by specialists of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan, the winners were presented with valuable gifts and diplomas titled “Teacher of the Year — 2025–2026” in a ceremonial setting.
