
Yusup Orazov, a 1st-year student of the Faculty of International Journalism of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, participated in and successfully completed the 2026 Summer School of Journalism held in the city of Gissar, Tajikistan.
This educational project, held from June 28 to July 12, was organized by the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe with the support of the European Union Delegation to Tajikistan. The initiative is aimed at young professionals from Central Asian countries who strive to improve their skills in the media field and adapt to a rapidly changing digital environment.
Professional skills development
This year’s media intensive was attended by 20 talented young professionals and students selected on a competitive basis from the leading universities of the region. Among them, along with the student from the IIR of the MFA of Turkmenistan, were representatives of the University of Central Asia, New York University in Shanghai, the International University of "Ala-Too," and the Uzbekistan State World Languages University.
The two-week program focused on the operational features of modern media. During various lectures and interactive seminars, special attention was paid to professional ethics, media literacy, combating disinformation, responsible use of artificial intelligence in journalism, and skills in creating multimedia stories, including the production of video and audio materials.
Experience exchange and professional growth
Practical exercises were an important part of the program. Under the guidance of experienced trainers and experts, the participants applied their knowledge in practice. The young people also visited the studio of the state television and radio company "Safina," where they became widely acquainted with the technical equipment of the studio complex, the processes of creating television content, working in live broadcasts, and preparing news bulletins.
The Summer School of Journalism program made a significant contribution to the development of the participants' knowledge and skills, the establishment of cross-border professional ties, and the strengthening of effective cooperation and friendly dialogue between young journalists from different countries.
As a result of the school's work, international certificates were awarded to the participants. The organizers emphasized the importance of this project in the professional development of young journalists and noted the need to continue this initiative in the future.
