Ahal-Teke horses march to Europe: Final preparations for the World Championship have begun
Recently, preparatory works for the beauty contest among Ahal-Teke horses and the World Championship in equestrian sports are actively underway at the "Peelbergen" equestrian sports complex in Kronenberg, the Netherlands. On the eve of this international competition, to be held in our country from September 4 to 6, 2026, the most responsible stage of training for the horses and riders has begun at the Ashgabat Equestrian Sports Complex.
According to the newspaper "Neutral Turkmenistan", in order to organize this large-scale event at a high level—organized by the State Association "Türkmen atlary" of Turkmenistan and the European Ahal-Teke Horse Association—a special organizational committee was established based on the Decree of the head of state. Also, as part of the preparatory work, special practical classes on diplomatic protocol, veterinary medicine, foreign languages, and logistics were organized for volunteers at the base of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The program of the World Championship includes not only sports competitions, but also an international scientific conference dedicated to Ahal-Teke horses, a large-scale exhibition-fair, and special pavilions introducing national culture, ancient historical heritage, and national horse equipment. In addition, to leave unforgettable impressions on the spectators, complex and unique acrobatic performances by the world-famous "Galkynyş" National Equestrian Games Group will be showcased.
Held under the motto "Independent, permanently neutral Turkmenistan — the homeland of galloping steeds," this prestigious event is an important step in further promoting and popularizing the art of breeding Ahal-Teke horses internationally, which was inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2023.
