Turkmen weightlifter Shabnam Kerimbayeva has set two junior world records at the World Weightlifting Championships taking place in Ningbo, China.

Competing in the women’s 57 kg category, the athlete lifted 89 kg in the snatch, setting a new junior world record in the discipline.

Kerimbayeva also achieved an outstanding result in the total. With a combined lift of 201 kg, she secured another junior world record. In the clean and jerk, the Turkmen athlete lifted 112 kg.

The International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) reported on the achievements of the Turkmen athlete.

It should be noted that Turkmenistan is represented by 10 athletes at the World Championships. The competition runs from 27 October to 8 November 2026.
