From ancient times to the present day, the Akhal-Teke horses, swifter than the wind, have been considered the spiritual revival and the flying wings of the Turkmen people. History proves that our Akhal-Teke horses trace their roots back to very ancient times. Archaeological excavations conducted within the territory of Turkmenistan have proven that the Akhal-Teke horse was domesticated five thousand years ago. Originating in the earliest periods and brought to a perfect form by horse trainers (seyis), Turkmen horses have had a positive impact on improving the breeds of many horses worldwide. Regarding this, the Hero-Arkadag aptly notes: "Information about horses as swift as the wind is found in the records of ancient Egyptian pharaohs, and in the chronicles and works of ancient scholars and writers such as Herodotus, Strabo, Aristotle, Homer, Ovid, Virgil, Xenophon, and other famous scientists." Furthermore, horse bones and other findings discovered as a result of archaeological research in Anau, Margush, Gonur-depe, Altyn-depe, and other parts of our country testify that our Motherland is the place where horses were first domesticated and their breed perfected in the world.
Our ancestors have cared deeply for centuries about maintaining the pure bloodlines of Akhal-Teke horses. In the current era, significant work is being carried out to preserve the breed purity of Akhal-Teke horses, which originate from the depths of millennia, and to restore the national principles and traditions of the art of horse breeding. Consequently, the national horse breeding industry in our country has been raised to new heights. Large-scale work is being implemented to develop equestrian sports infrastructure, types of equestrian sports, and national horse breeding traditions, as well as to nurture a new generation of master riders and horse breeders, while international cooperation in this field is being expanded.
