
Joyful news that will delight Turkmen sports fans came from the Asian Championship among athletes under 23 (U23), which is being held in Da Nang city of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. In this prestigious competition, Turkmen wrestlers demonstrated their high level of preparation and perseverance in bouts to the whole world.
A total of 83 strongest athletes from 18 states of the region participated in this championship, which attracted the attention of the wrestling world. The freestyle wrestling national team of Turkmenistan was represented in this competition by 6 of the most talented and promising wrestlers of our country.
According to the results of the competition, the members of the Turkmen national team performed successfully and managed to bring a total of 4 medals — 1 gold and 3 bronze medals — to the sports award fund of our Motherland. This success of our athletes became another proof of the steadily increasing prestige of the Turkmen sports school in the international arena.
Alp Arslan Begenjow achieved the biggest and historic success in our national team. Our compatriot, who fought fierce bouts in the 86 kg weight category, managed to win consecutively with his skill and unshakeable will.

During the championship, three more Turkmen wrestlers showed great determination in the semi-finals and bronze medal bouts in their weight categories and managed to ascend the third step of the podium. The 3 bronze medals won made a significant contribution to our national team becoming one of the most effective teams in the overall standings.
