The Malaysian company "Petronas" is preparing to commence exploration and drilling operations at major gas fields in Turkmenistan this December. This was announced by Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim during his speech in parliament.
As the Prime Minister noted, this project is considered one of the most rapidly prepared and implemented initiatives in the energy sector. Typically, it would take one and a half to two years to begin drilling after signing a contract, but "Petronas" has managed to significantly shorten this period.
Anwar Ibrahim described the development of gas fields in Turkmenistan as a highly significant milestone for Malaysia. According to him, this step will place Malaysia among the world's leading countries in terms of natural gas reserves and will be a key part of the country's energy security strategy.
The Malaysian government is currently taking consistent measures to diversify energy sources, maintain stable supplies of petroleum products, and keep prices under control. The Prime Minister emphasized that energy supplies in the country are currently at a sufficient level and that the government will continue its long-term strategy aimed at supporting the industrial sector, including small and medium-sized enterprises.
