
The capital of Turkmenistan is preparing to host the next meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), scheduled for May 22nd. According to the press service of the Executive Committee, preparations for the event were discussed in Minsk at a meeting of the Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives of the Commonwealth countries.
According to the First Deputy Secretary General of the CIS, Igor Petrishenko, the presiding party has invited all participants and further coordinated the agenda. The agenda includes 12 issues covering various areas of economic cooperation and increasing the efficiency of interaction within the Commonwealth.

During the meeting, the permanent representatives also summarized the results of the CIS Foreign Ministers' meeting held in Moscow on April 17th and defined the tasks for implementing the decisions made. In addition, the prospects for the development of railway transport in the Commonwealth and a report by the head of the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center, Yevgeniy Sysoyev, on the results of the anti-terrorism program for 2023–2025 were reviewed separately.
Turkmenistan holds the chairmanship of the CIS bodies in 2026.
