Turkmenistan’s President Serdar Berdimuhamedov made a working visit to Daşoguz Region. He took part in the launch of construction of the Ashgabat–Daşoguz highway and in the groundbreaking of two new facilities in Garaşsyzlyk District: a cottonseed oil plant processing 60,000 tonnes a year, and a complex producing 350,000 tonnes of urea and 350,000 tonnes of ammonium nitrate fertilizer annually. The President also attended the opening of the Garabogaz–Kazakhstan section of the Türkmenbaşy–Garabogaz–Kazakhstan highway. The news was reported by the “Watan” program.
The 546 km highway will begin at the “Oguz han” fountain complex in Ashgabat and connect the two regions. Construction is divided into four stages. The first 9 km, inside the capital, will be an 8-lane road 65 meters wide, with pedestrian paths on both sides, green strips and side roads. The 9–48 km section will be 34 meters wide with 6 lanes.
The longest stretch, from km 48 to km 527, will be 26.5 meters wide with 4 lanes, and is expected to open new opportunities for interregional trade and tourism. The final section, km 527 to 546, will be 34 meters wide with 6 lanes. Along the route there will be 136 bus stops and 13 parking areas, and 7 police checkpoints are planned for road safety.
