Double Medal from Bucharest: Great Victory for Lebap Wrestlers
The prestigious international tournament named after "Constantin Alexandru & Ioan Popovici," held in Bucharest, Romania, for athletes under 17, was marked by new achievements for Turkmen sports. Young wrestlers from the Lebap region, competing as part of the Turkmenistan national team, returned home with gold and silver medals.
During the competition, our wrestlers demonstrated their mastery and determination for victory:
- Rejep Jorayew (Gold Medal): A student of the 29th secondary school in Turkmenabat, competing in the 51 kg weight category in Greco-Roman wrestling, outpaced all his opponents to reach the highest step of the podium.
- Mekan Hudayberenow (Silver Medal): A student of the 38th secondary school in Turkmenabat performed successfully in the 71 kg weight category in freestyle wrestling, earning the silver medal.
This international competition stood out for its scale and number of participants. 114 athletes from 16 countries competed in freestyle wrestling, while 74 wrestlers took part in Greco-Roman wrestling. Securing podium finishes among such strong competitors is another testament to the high standard of the Turkmen sports school.
