GRU Space startup launched online booking for rooms in the “first lunar hotel in history.” Prices range from $250k to $1M, although neither the hotel nor transfer exists yet. According to founders, it will appear in the 2030s, when SpaceX is expected to establish regular commercial passenger flights to space.
The main goal is not the hotel itself, but to establish GRU Space as a pioneer in lunar exploration, similar to Hudson Bay Company, which started in 1670 trading furs and became a major force in Canada, even gaining rights to establish laws in its region.
In 2029, an inflatable module — a prototype of a permanent building — will be sent to the Moon. Then, test construction using lunar regolith will begin. By 2031, a “lunar pit” — a protected foundation for a hotel accommodating four guests — will be ready.
Infrastructure will be built around the hotel, gradually expanding into a full base, a springboard for a lunar colony led by GRU Space.
