Young Turkmen karate athlete Gurban Nazar Amandurdyyev won a silver medal at the Asian Championship held in Amman, Jordan.

The 24th Asian Karate Championship among cadets, juniors and athletes under 21 was attended by 338 athletes from 21 countries.

The 17-year-old Turkmen athlete successfully competed in the kumite event in the under-55 kg junior category, earning the silver medal.

Last year, Gurban Nazar Amandurdyyev won a bronze medal at the continental championship held in Shaoguan, China. The athlete also has two medals won in the “Karate-1” Youth League in 2024 and 2026.

The Turkmen karate athlete achieved his first international success in January 2020 at a competition held in Türkiye. At that event, he won a silver medal in the under-10 category in the under-30 kg weight class.

The athlete trains under the guidance of Aydyn Charyyev, head coach of the national team of Turkmenistan.

Known for his consistent results, Gurban Nazar Amandurdyyev is among the leading candidates to participate in the 4th Summer Youth Olympic Games, which will be held in Dakar, Senegal, in autumn 2026.
