In the year "Independent, Permanently Neutral Turkmenistan – the Homeland of Prosperous Aspirations," a rich harvest of melons and gourds has been grown on the fertile fields of the western region of the country. This year, it is planned to harvest 52,400 tons of produce from 2,620 hectares across the Balkan region.
Currently, experienced farmers, tenants, and landowners in the Bereket, Gyzylarbat, Magtymguly, Etrek, and Esenguly districts are continuing the harvest of melons and watermelons in an organized manner. In this significant year marking the 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan's Independence, diligent agricultural workers are achieving high results by following the farming traditions and mentorship principles of our ancestors.
The Balkan soil has accumulated great experience in growing not only melons and gourds but also various fruits. Gardeners in the Magtymguly district are known for cultivating pomegranates, figs, and walnuts, while the workers of the Etrek district are recognized for growing valuable produce such as olives.
Farmers working in the fields along the Karakum River are regularly sending various varieties of melons—such as vakharman, kyzyldepe, gulaby, and garrygyz—to the markets. Ecologically clean and high-quality Balkan produce is in high demand among the population, not only within the region but also in the capital and other parts of the country.
Thus, the melon growers of the region are making a worthy contribution to creating food abundance and providing the public with vegetable and melon products at affordable prices.
