On the occasion of the Turkmen Carpet Day, state awards were presented to several master carpet weavers for their significant contributions to the development of our national carpet art. Among them is Tavus Khayydova, a carpet weaver at the "Guneshlik" workshop of the Khalach Art Carpet Enterprise. She was awarded the honorary title of "Honored Carpet Weaver of Turkmenistan".
Tavus Khayydova is a master specialist who has dedicated herself to the art of carpet weaving for over 38 years. She proudly notes that she weaves the warmth of her heart and her boundless love for our Motherland and art into every carpet she creates. Previously, in 2017, she was awarded the "For Love of the Motherland" ("Watana bolan söýgüsi üçin") medal of Turkmenistan.
For Tavus Khayydova, carpet weaving is not just a profession, but a family tradition. She mentions that she learned the intricate secrets of this craft from her mother, and today this tradition is being continued by her mother-in-law, sisters-in-law, daughter-in-law, and daughter.
The family's love for carpet art is also passed down to the younger generation. The master weaver's 13-year-old granddaughter has been passionate about this art from an early age; even at the age of 6, she managed to win the state stage of the "Most Charming Girl" ("Iň eýjejik gyzjagaz") competition with a carpet she had woven herself.
"The Turkmen carpet is a unique work of art, perfected by our people over centuries," says T. Khayydova. She emphasizes that the high appreciation of her labor by the state has further increased her enthusiasm for her craft.
Tavus Khayydova says that she will continue to spare no effort in teaching this exemplary craft inherited from our ancestors to the young generation and contributing to the development of our Motherland, expressing her sincere gratitude to Hero Arkadag and Arkadagly Hero Serdar.
