
A high-level meeting was held in Washington, D.C., the capital of the United States of America, with the participation of the heads of the foreign policy agencies of Turkmenistan and the USA. This is reported on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. During these talks organized at the White House, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, and the US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, discussed the strategic directions of bilateral relations.
During the meeting, the parties noted with particular satisfaction that the Turkmen-American political-diplomatic dialogue has risen to a new level and is becoming increasingly active recently. It was also emphasized that regular meetings and consultations at the high and highest levels play an important role in ensuring sustainable development.
The main focus of the negotiations was directed towards economic cooperation. The parties paid special attention to expanding relations in trade-economic, energy, and transport-communication spheres. In this regard, the issues of ensuring energy security and diversifying (directing to different routes) energy resource supply routes in the region were identified as one of the priority areas of mutually beneficial cooperation.
During the meeting, issues of regional security, combating modern threats and challenges, as well as cooperation in multilateral formats, including within the framework of the "C5+1" platform, were also considered.
At the conclusion of the talks, the parties confirmed the immense future potential of bilateral relations and expressed their readiness to regularly continue an effective and constructive dialogue in all areas of mutual interest.
