Iranian Ambassador Ali Mojtaba Rouzbehani expressed gratitude to Turkmenistan for the humanitarian assistance provided and noted that Ashgabat is one of Tehran's most important partners in the region.
"We consider Turkmenistan to be one of the most important partners in the region," the diplomat said at a briefing held at the Iranian Embassy in Ashgabat.
Rouzbehani reminded that there is a 1,200-kilometer shared border between the two states, with four main border crossings in operation. According to him, these crossings are of strategic importance for both bilateral relations and the entire region. "These crossings are important for both Central Asia and the whole world, as the main part of the cargo flow passes through them," the ambassador emphasized.
The diplomat particularly noted the role of Turkmenistan in ensuring the return of Iranian citizens from abroad. "Iranian citizens see the neighboring country as the most accessible way to return to their Homeland. In this regard, Turkmenistan has provided us with great help," he noted.
According to Rouzbehani, the relations between the two countries serve as an example of good neighborliness, and interaction in various fields develops in the spirit of friendship and cooperation. The governments of both countries are making efforts for the normal functioning of the border.
As a reminder, humanitarian aid was previously sent to the Iranian people, primarily children, on behalf of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Fund for Assistance to Children in Need of Care. In accordance with the instructions of the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, this aid included medicines, medical products, and other goods.
