Yesterday, grand celebrations were held at the Ashgabat Equestrian Sport Complex on the occasion of the National Day of the Turkmen Horse. The President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, attended the festive events.
At the beginning of the ceremony, magnificent Akhal-Teke horses were presented to the Head of State on behalf of the entire nation, specialists of military and law enforcement agencies, and the country's horse breeders. Additionally, the horse breeders presented a noble steed, a descendant of famous horses, as a gift to the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Hero-Arkadag.
Commitment to national traditions held a special place in the celebration. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov placed sacred family heirlooms—an alaja (talisman) woven by his grandmother Ogulabat eje on the horse named Daghan, and an alaja woven by his mother Ogulgerek eje on the horse named Arkahan. This moment became a symbol of the people's respect for traditional handicrafts and horses passed down through generations.
At the conclusion of the events, the Head of State was presented with an exquisite Turkmen carpet to mark the glorious date. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov bid a warm farewell to the participants and departed from the venue.
A festive meal (toy sadaka) was also hosted at the Ashgabat Equestrian Sport Complex on the occasion of this momentous date. During the meal, prayers were offered in honor of the Turkmen horse, with wishes for the global reputation of Akhal-Teke horses—the treasure of our national culture—to rise even higher. These celebrations once again clearly demonstrated to the world Turkmenistan's dedication to its national values, particularly the "heavenly horses."
