The Embassy of the Russian Federation in Turkmenistan is actively preparing for the scheduled visit of RF President Vladimir Putin to our country. This was announced by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Turkmenistan, Ivan Volynkin, at a festive reception held on the occasion of Russia Day.
Preparation for the October summit: President Vladimir Putin's visit to Turkmenistan will coincide with the summit of the Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). This significant international event will take place on October 9, 2026, in the "Avaza" National Tourist Zone. Ambassador Ivan Volynkin noted in his speech that the embassy is preparing for this major event at a high level.
During the speech, the Russian diplomat emphasized that relations between the two countries have a strategic character. He noted that Russian-Turkmen cooperation plays an important role in ensuring stability and security in the region.
The two states regularly exchange views on important issues of the international agenda. Moscow highly respects Ashgabat's permanent neutrality status. This status was noted as one of the key factors maintaining geopolitical balance in Central Asia and the Caspian region.
Ambassador Ivan Volynkin emphasized the special significance of the fact that the 35th anniversary of the creation of the CIS coincides with Turkmenistan's chairmanship period. The participation of Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin in the meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of CIS countries held recently on May 22 in Ashgabat, and his meeting with the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, were indicators of the active cooperation between the two countries.
