On July 25, 2026, a regular meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission on Ensuring the Implementation of Turkmenistan's International Obligations in the Field of Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The meeting summarized the country's efforts in this area and outlined future strategic tasks. The main topic of the meeting was the discussion of the draft of the new National Action Plan on Human Rights for 2026–2030. This document is aimed at elevating the country's legal system to a new level, bringing national legislation into compliance with advanced international standards, and strengthening social and legal guarantees for citizens. Furthermore, meeting participants reviewed the implementation results of the Plan for the Implementation of International Humanitarian Law for 2024–2026 and noted the high pace of interdepartmental cooperation. In his speech, Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov noted that Turkmenistan pursues a consistent and open policy in the field of human rights, which clearly demonstrates the humanitarian nature of our state and its commitment to international cooperation. The main tasks for the future period were determined by the meeting.
