The creative team of the Seyitnazar Seydi State Music and Drama Theater has presented another wonderful gift to the audience. Turning to the literature of fraternal nations, the theater hosted the premiere of a new play based on "Lullaby" ("Hüwdi"), a piece by the famous Tatar playwright Tufan Minnullin. The work, which highlights family values, the upbringing of future generations, and motherly love—themes essential for all eras and nations—was warmly received by art lovers.
The chief director of the new stage production is the young and talented specialist Suray Rahmanova. For Rahmanova, who had previously won the audience's love by directing only New Year's fairy tales, this play marks her first large-scale stage work. One of the most unique aspects of the production is that it features an all-female cast. The entire sequence of events takes place inside a maternity hospital.
The play clearly reflects the historical, cultural, and moral closeness between the Turkmen and Tatar peoples. The plot unfolds through the destinies and personalities of the new mothers:
As the play progresses, it is revealed that the reasons behind Dilemma's breakdown are the mistakes made in the past by her mother, Rimma (Gulalek Shaymerdanova), who failed to raise her daughter properly, as well as the indifference of her mother-in-law, Vazifa (Aygozel Sahatova), toward family relationships. The dedicated work and portrayals by the chief physician of the maternity hospital, Lidiya Mikhailovna (Bagsere Ravshanova), doctor Ayzara Ahatovna (Gulbahar Gurbangulyyeva), and the nursing staff further enhance the emotional impact of the piece.
With its profound meaning, the play "Lullaby" serves as a major educational school for the younger generation. The work convincingly demonstrates how family discord and flaws in upbringing can lead to heavy regrets in the future. At the same time, it highly celebrates the sanctity of a mother's milk and a mother's lullaby.
The stage design by Mahri Gurbangeldiyeva and the music by Kemal Geldimyradov perfectly harmonize with the overall spirit of the play, successfully immersing the audience in the story. At the end of the premiere, art professionals and veteran actors noted that the production was a great success and wished the young director Suray Rahmanova continued creative achievements.
