Since December 1, 2025, the Central Bank of Turkmenistan has introduced modified polymer banknotes of 1, 5, 10 manat and a new 200-manat note into circulation.

Key features of polymer banknotes:

  • Durability – resistant to water, moisture, tearing, dirt; easy to clean.
  • Long service life – last at least 2.5 times longer than paper notes.
  • Enhanced security – transparent windows, microprinting, optically variable features, and complex security elements.
  • Cost-efficiency – although production is 15–20% more expensive than paper, long-term durability makes them economical.
  • Environmental friendliness – require less energy to produce and reduce overall costs.
  • Ease of use – tactile elements help visually impaired people identify denominations.

The 1, 5, and 10 manat polymer notes retain their previous design and colors, while the new 200-manat note features the “Arkadag” building and the city administration building of Arkadag.

The banknotes include multiple security features: SPARK®Flow, optically variable inks, tactile dots, transparent windows, and optical security threads. To verify authenticity, check at least five security features or visit a bank branch.

The new polymer banknotes are mandatory for all organizations in Turkmenistan. All previous banknotes of the Central Bank remain legal tender.
