Prominent Turkmen archaeologist and medieval ceramics specialist Nurgozel Baishimova has celebrated her 80th birthday.

In honor of the jubilee, a formal gathering was held at the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan. Colleagues and representatives of the scientific community congratulated the scholar on the significant milestone, noting the contribution of her many years of fruitful research to the study of national history.

Nurgozel Baishimova graduated from the Makhtumkuli Turkmen State University in 1972 and began her career at the Institute of History. Her first mentors in field archaeology were renowned archaeologists Egen Atagaryev and Galina Pugachenkova.

Throughout her scientific career, the scholar participated in archaeological excavations at numerous ancient sites across Turkmenistan. She accumulated extensive experience studying historical monuments such as Shahrislam, Dehistan, Old Nisa, Ancient Merv, and Paryzdepe. In addition, she collaborated with international archaeological expeditions.

The study of medieval ceramics became one of the main focuses of Nurgozel Baishimova's research. In this field, she is recognized as one of the experienced specialists not only in Turkmenistan but throughout Central Asia.

Alongside her scientific work, she has also been prolific in scholarly journalism, authoring a number of monographs.

For her great contribution to the development of science, Nurgozel Baishimova has been awarded the "Gayrat" and "Magtymguly Fragi" medals. Her decades of scientific work have made a vital contribution to the development of Turkmen archaeology and the study of historical and cultural heritage.
