Representatives of mass media of Turkmenistan are on a working visit to Lisbon to modernize journalism
On May 31, 2026, a working visit of a delegation consisting of representatives of the mass media of Turkmenistan to the capital of Portugal, Lisbon, began. This professional exchange is organized by the Center of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) in Ashgabat.
The main purpose of the visit is to exchange work experience in modern conditions within the framework of the program "Support in further modernization of journalism and broadcasting practices." During this study tour, Turkmen journalists will participate in productive meetings over several days to learn about international experience.
The agenda of the visit of Turkmenistan's media representatives to Lisbon is very extensive and includes the following official meetings and discussions:
- Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Portugal;
- Parliament of the country (Assembly of the Republic);
- Editorials of the leading mass media systems of Portugal.
During the meetings to be organized, the Turkmen delegation will closely get acquainted with the main strategies and methods of work used by their Portuguese colleagues to further improve journalistic activity, and to introduce modern world practices and digital technologies into the media space.
Currently, numerous online publications actively operate in the Portuguese Republic, highlighting the economy, culture, sports, and social life. Along with this, numerous printed publications of national and local levels — newspapers and magazines covering social issues, the business world, and healthcare topics — are delivered to the general public.
This visit will make a great contribution to strengthening the international professional relations of Turkmen journalism and enriching the content of national publications.
