Spain national team midfielder Rodri has joined Barcelona from Manchester City. The Catalan club officially announced the completion of the transfer of the 30-year-old footballer. The two sides have signed a contract valid until June 30, 2030.

According to the transfer terms, Manchester City will receive up to €76.5 million from the deal, including bonuses. Of this amount, €60 million will be paid as the base transfer fee.

Rodri had been playing for Manchester City since 2019 and played an important role in the English club’s major achievements. In total, he won 13 trophies with the team.

The Spanish midfielder became an English Premier League champion four times with Manchester City. He also won the FA Cup twice, the League Cup three times, the FA Community Shield, the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.

One of the biggest achievements of Rodri’s individual career was winning the Ballon d’Or award in 2024. That same year, he was recognized as the best footballer in the world.

For Barcelona, the transfer is seen as an important step in the club’s long-term plans, as well as a move to strengthen the midfield. At his new club, Rodri will have the opportunity to draw on his experience and demonstrate his high level of footballing ability.
