
A Turkmen delegation led by Tangryguly Atahallyyew, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, is visiting Dushanbe to participate in the 14th meeting of the joint Turkmen-Tajik intergovernmental commission on trade-economic and scientific-technical cooperation, held between March 3 and 4, 2026. This was reported on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The meeting began its work on March 3, 2026, under the co-chairmanship of Tangryguly Atahallyyew, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, and Sulaymon Ziyozoda, Deputy Prime Minister of Tajikistan. Representatives of ministries and sectoral departments of the two countries also attended the meeting.
During the meeting, it was emphasized that the relations between the two countries, based on mutual will, have acquired a qualitatively new content in recent years. Mutual visits and meetings at the highest and governmental levels have become regular. This contributes to the development of effective cooperation in all areas.
The implementation of the agreements reached at the 13th meeting of the joint Turkmen-Tajik intergovernmental commission on trade-economic and scientific-technical cooperation, held in Ashgabat in 2024, was also reviewed.
The parties discussed important issues of bilateral relations, particularly the status and prospects of trade and economic cooperation, increasing mutual trade, development of partnership in fields such as transport and communication, energy and water resources, industry and construction, agriculture, education and science, health, medical industry, civil aviation, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, youth policy, and sports, as well as the further expansion of the legal framework of cooperation.
It was noted that in 2025, the trade turnover between the two countries amounted to 43.1 million US dollars, which is an increase of 17.1% compared to 2024. This indicator confirms the dynamic growth of economic cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting was held in a traditional atmosphere of friendship and mutual understanding. The parties expressed confidence that trade-economic, scientific-technical, and cultural cooperation will be further expanded.
On March 4, a Protocol was signed based on the results of the 14th meeting of the joint Turkmen-Tajik intergovernmental commission on trade-economic and scientific-technical cooperation.
