A training workshop aimed at improving the system of inclusive services for children with autism spectrum disorders and their families was held in Ashgabat. The event took place from September 1–5 as part of Turkmenistan's ongoing cooperation with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).

The training was led by Yulia Rusanova, an expert from the St. Petersburg Early Intervention Institute and a UNICEF specialist. The seminar brought together relevant professionals from the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry, and the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Turkmenistan.

The initiative is part of a pilot project focused on the early detection and comprehensive support of children with autism spectrum disorders across the country. Throughout the sessions, special emphasis was placed on the importance of intersectoral collaboration among specialists from various fields.

To bridge theoretical concepts with practical application, part of the training sessions was conducted at Kindergarten No. 111 in Ashgabat. Participants reviewed the progress achieved during the first phase of the pilot project and discussed opportunities for strengthening intersectoral cooperation in supporting children and their families.

Attendees were introduced to methods used for the early identification of autism spectrum disorder signs during early childhood development. Practical recommendations were also shared on supporting families, addressing individual child needs, and organizing comprehensive care.

Participants highlighted the seminar's value in enriching professional expertise and emphasized that intersectoral cooperation plays a critical role in establishing effective early support services for children with autism.

This workshop served as another important collaborative effort between Turkmenistan's state agencies and international partners aimed at fostering favorable conditions for child development and elevating the quality of inclusive services.
