Turkmenistan's national team made a successful start at the 11th Central Asian WKF Karate Championship in Aktau, Kazakhstan, finishing the opening day with four medals — one gold, one silver, and two bronze.

The three-day international championship has brought together nearly 500 athletes from Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. Competitors are contesting medals in kata (forms) and kumite (sparring) across youth, junior, and senior age categories.

According to the Karate-Do Federation of Turkmenistan, the national delegation consists of 36 athletes, four coaches, six referees, and one official representative.

All four medals won by Turkmen athletes on the opening day came in the kata discipline.

In the boys' under-14 category, Muhammetresul Khayrullayev, a seventh-grade student of Secondary School No. 18 in Bayramaly, Mary Region, defeated all of his opponents to claim the gold medal.

In the 16–17 junior category, Allanur Yalkabov, an 11th-grade student of Specialized Secondary School No. 52 in Ashgabat, earned the silver medal.

The bronze medals went to Musa Gurbanov, a fifth-grade student of Secondary School No. 6 in Bayramaly, competing in the 10–11 age group, and Shirmuhammet Garymyradov, a fourth-grade student of Secondary School No. 11 in the same city.

The 11th Central Asian Championship continues, and the Turkmen team aims to add more medals in the remaining competition days.
