Turkmenistan's air transport sector continues to consistently prove its high capabilities and quality standards at the international level. Recently, the Turkmenabat International Airport once again demonstrated that it has become an important hub for flights carried out in the world's most difficult and extreme conditions.
Special Guest: Il-76TD-90VD "Alpha Crux" Aircraft
A special aircraft — the world-famous high-power Il-76TD-90VD "Alpha Crux" (named after Artur Chilingarov) designed for the extreme conditions of Antarctica — landed on the runway of the international airport. This aircraft, operating flights in polar weather conditions, specially chose the city of Turkmenabat for a technical landing, refueling, and crew rest after a long journey.
High-Level Service and Safety
High precision and safety are required for aircraft flying in the extreme and harsh weather conditions of Antarctica. Therefore, it is of great importance to ensure full rest for the crew of aircraft operating in this direction and to provide comfortable safety conditions during transit. The Turkmenabat International Airport provided the following services to the specialists and the "Alpha Crux" team:
Deep Technical Maintenance: Various systems of the aircraft, including engines and control panels, were inspected by special experts.
Refueling and Ground Services: Necessary services were provided to the aircraft using special equipment.
Amenities for the Crew: The safe passage of crew members through checkpoints, successful completion of inspections, and transfer to rest areas were organized at a high level.
Turkmenabat International Airport once again proved that it has become one of the main logistics points offering reliable, high-quality, and safe services not only for domestic, but also for the most authoritative and leading airlines across the globe, including polar and research missions.
