Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan express interest in developing and cooperating in the field of "green" energy. This was stated by the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Azerbaijan, Gurbanmammet Elyasov, in an interview with the "Report" news agency.
According to the Ambassador, both countries are exploring opportunities to expand the use of renewable energy sources. They are also discussing Turkmenistan's participation in creating "green" energy corridors across the Caspian Sea.
As noted in the report, there are plans to create infrastructure for transmitting electricity produced from renewable sources through the South Caucasus to European countries. In this context, Azerbaijan is viewed as a transit hub for the export of "green" energy.
Gurbanmammet Elyasov noted that the development of projects in solar and wind energy could be one of the most promising directions. "Turkmenistan has great potential for solar energy production, while Azerbaijan is simultaneously implementing projects to develop wind energy in the Caspian Sea," the Turkmen Ambassador pointed out.
"The development of joint infrastructure for the transmission and export of 'green' electricity could also be an important direction. Within this framework, the construction of underwater cable lines across the Caspian Sea, the synchronization of energy systems, and participation in regional projects for exporting electricity towards Europe could be considered," said the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Azerbaijan.
Gurbanmammet Elyasov also emphasized that additional opportunities for cooperation are opening up in areas such as the production and transportation of "green" hydrogen, the implementation of energy-saving technologies, as well as the exchange of experience and the attraction of investments for the development of renewable energy.
