On September 11, a meeting between the leaders of the trade union organizations of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan was held in Astana. The meeting discussed issues related to protecting workers’ rights, occupational safety, developing social partnership and exchanging experience.

The talks were attended by Oguljennet Berdiliyeva, Chairperson of the National Centre of Trade Unions of Turkmenistan, and Satybaldy Dauletin, Head of the Federation of Trade Unions of Kazakhstan.

One of the main outcomes of the meeting was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation between the relevant organizations of the two countries. The document is aimed at expanding professional ties between trade unions and implementing joint social projects.

As part of the visit, an international round table was also held with the participation of representatives of the International Labour Organization. The participants discussed issues related to further strengthening social dialogue and putting the principles of decent work into practice.

Particular attention was also paid to preparations for upcoming regional events. In November 2026, Ashgabat is expected to host an international forum of the leaders of trade unions from Central Asian countries and Azerbaijan, as well as an international conference dedicated to sustainable development and compliance with labour standards.

The meeting in Astana contributed to further developing friendly relations between the trade unions of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan and identifying new areas for long-term practical cooperation.
